“‘Peaky Blinders’ and ‘Black Mirror’ have been on the air for quite a while now, but we were only able to obtain the rights in the U.S. this year,” says Tamaya Petteway, senior vice president, brand and licensing, Endemol Shine North America. “At this year’s Licensing Expo, we were very excited about the roll-out and used the opportunity to connect with future licensees about products. The fan base for both shows are so enthusiastic and engaged, so to have something to speak to that and that offers an up-close experience with each show is great.”

Asmodee has signed on to create a “Black Mirror”-themed social board game inspired by the “Nosedive” episode which will encourage players to create a “perfect life” by collecting lifestyle cards and avoiding “dings” on their social score. The Nosedive game will launch at Target stores nationwide Nov. 25.

“The ‘Nosedive’ program is great because it connects to the throughline of the episode,” adds Peteway. ‘Nosedive’ was all about apps and [social] ratings, so to come out of the gate with something that is interactive hones-in on ‘Black Mirror’’s ability to make you think differently… The brand awareness for ‘Black Mirror’ is extremely high, so apparel, accessories, board games make sense, as do stationery, gifts, publishing and more for ‘Peaky Blinders,’ and in time we’ll see experiential for both.”

Loot Crate is on board for a January “binge”-themed box, which will contain a branded t-shirt, socks and a collectible pin based on the episode “U.S.S. Callister.” The box will be available to order at LootCrate.com. “Our subscription box will give fans, specifically super fans who like to binge, a surprise with elements and products that reflect back to the shows,” adds Petteway. “We’re focused on items that reflect our fans’ passion.”

In addition, Endemol Shine has also signed an agreement for The “Peaky Blinders” 2019 Wall Calendar, an 18-month grid calendar with six bonus months, moon phases and the U.S. and international holidays, which is available at Amazon.com and Calendars.com. “‘Peaky Blinders’ is so visual and has beautiful cinematography, so to have a calendar with beautiful imagery will resonate with the show’s fans,” continues Petteway.

The new deals follow the recent release of “Black Mirror” apparel online exclusively at Target.com and at Target stores, which include a short-sleeve crew t-shirt, a long-sleeve crew t-shirt and a pullover sweatshirt hoodie with images from iconic episodes. “Black Mirror” and “Peaky Blinders” currently air in the U.S. on Netflix.
