Evil Geniuses, a global esports and gaming entertainment brand, has announced that Caroline "Cay" Young has joined the company.
Young will focus on identifying, negotiating, and securing new partnerships that expand Evil Geniuses' brand recognition to broader audiences as a director of corporate partnerships. Evil Geniuses has secured deals with brands like Monster Energy, LG Electronics, TUMI, BMW, Coinbase and more.
With more than ten years of experience in the sports industry, Young brings in-depth industry knowledge to Evil Geniuses' partnership team. Young had been with the Los Angeles Sparks since 2016, joining the team as the partnerships coordinator and ascending into a leadership role as director, corporate partnerships in 2018. In 2019, Young was promoted to vice president, corporate partnerships, which resulted in a 56% year-over-year growth in revenue for the Sparks, leading the WNBA in sponsorship revenue in both 2019 and 2020. During her time with the team, Young negotiated, managed and executed the four largest deals in the team history under the current ownership group, including the Sparks' marquee jersey partnership with Equitrust Life Insurance, along with Anthem Blue Cross, the LA County Department of Public Health, the LA County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Department of Mental Health.
"Cay Young is one of the foremost leaders in corporate sponsorships in the sports world and will play a pivotal role for Evil Geniuses as we welcome new brands into the gaming and esports industry," says Nicole LaPointe Jameson, chief executive officer, Evil Geniuses. "During her time with the Los Angeles Sparks, Young proved over and over that she is an expert at identifying influential brands and building the trust with them that's required to be successful together."
