Preschool series heads to mass market following broadcast success.

Entertainment One is building its licensing program for the evergreen preschool animation series “Peppa Pig” in France.

With merchandise first launching in the country in 2014, eOne is now taking the brand to mass retailers as product debuts on shelves at Carrefour, all mass market food chains, Toys ‘R’ Us, La Grande Recre and Joué Club.

“Initial sales of ‘Peppa’ licensed merchandise have surpassed the expectations of retailers in France, and with the added exposure of France 4 and France 5’s daily broadcasts and the upcoming live show, it’s clear that the time is right to bring the brand to the mass market,” says Amy Dieckman, head of international licensing, eOne.

The licensing program is managed by eOne’s licensing agent in the region, France TV Distribution, and currently boasts more than35 licensees including master toy partner Giochi Preziosi, Diset (board games), Taldec (computer games), Hachette Jeunesse (publishing), Cijep (plush, accessories and furniture) and more.

eOne and France TV Distribution will also be capitalizing on the partnership with U.K. live event partner Fiery Angel to bring the stage show production “Peppa Pig’s Big Splash” to France. A nationwide tour will kick off late next year beginning in Paris.
