Entertainment One lines up licensing deals for the film adaptation of the Roald Dahl classic.

Entertainment One has secured a raft of new licensing deals in the U.K. for the film The BFG, which will hit theaters July 2016. New licensees have been signed across multiple categories including games, apparel, nightwear and confectionery.

Merchandise is expected to hit shelves next summer.

Partners signed on to expand the The BFG at retail include Blues for leisurewear; Winning Moves for a Monopoly board game; C&M Licensing for nightwear, underwear and socks; and Kinnerton for confectionery. eOne has also appointed creative agency Imagin8 to manage cross-category FSDU solutions at retail.

eOne manages the pan-European licensing rights for the film, and will be directly distributing The BFG in the U.K.

“We’ve had a tremendous response to The BFG from licensees and have assembled a strong line up of partners across a wide range of categories,” says Hannah Mungo, head licensing, U.K., eOne. “Excitement is beginning to build with the release of the film’s first trailer last week, which kick starts an eight month marketing campaign that will make this one of the must-see movies of summer 2016.”

Other licensing partners already on board for the film in the region include Fashion U.K., William Lamb, Ravensburger, Bazooka Candy, Gemma International and Pyramid International for a range of items such as nightwear, footwear, confectionery and novelties.

The film The BFG is helmed by filmmaking legend Steven Spielberg and is based on the classic tale from author Roald Dahl.
