Agreement will allow the use of the term “emoji” in Sony’s upcoming movie merchandising program.

The Emoji Company and Sony Pictures Animation have entered into a licensing agreement regarding the registered emoji trademark.

The agreement will cover the use of the term “emoji” in connection with Sony’s worldwide merchandising program for its upcoming film

As part of the agreement, both companies will offer unique, distinct sets of emoticons and characters as well as target different markets.
