More than 20,000 retailers across 30 countries will participate in the pop-up AR treasure hunt to celebrate the upcoming Star Wars film.
GLOBAL–Disney and Lucasfilm has revealed “Find the Force,” a global AR event that will roll out on Force Friday II (Sept. 1) to celebrate the launch of new products inspired by Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The unique, three-day treasure hunt will invite fans to download the “Star Wars App” and then visit any of the 20,000 participating retail locations across 30 countries to find a graphic that contains the “Find the Force” logo. Once scanned, fans will reveal a character, who through augmented reality, will appear in the room with them. Fans can then take photos, record videos and share the experience on social media. The AR event will feature 15 different characters in total across its three-day run.
Additionally, fans in select global markets will have the chance to win tickets to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi premiere in December by sharing their photos and videos on social media with the hashtags #FindtheForce and #Sweepstakes.

Fans throughout the world can now download the latest version of the “Star Wars App” for an early look at the new Porg character in AR before the treasure hunt goes live at retail, Sept. 1.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will open in U.S. theaters on Dec. 15.
