Disney Outlines 2013 TV Plans


Disney Media has announced its television programming plans for the upcoming year including new Marvel animated shows and a series of shorts featuring Mickey Mouse.

Disney XD will expand its Marvel Universe programming block with two new animated series–"Marvel's Avengers Assemble" and "Hulk and the Agents S.M.A.S.H."–which will join "Ultimate Spider-Man," now in its second season.

Disney also previewed at its upfronts Tuesday a series of cartoon shorts starring Mickey Mouse. The shorts will begin rolling out on Disney Channel and Disney.com in June.

A slew of other new series were also announced, among them:

  • "Sheriff Callie's Wild West"–is the first western for preschoolers.
  • "Liv & Maddie"–a sitcom featuring 17-year-old newcomer Dove Cameron in the dual role of identical twins.
  • "Star and the Forces of Evil"–an animated comedy adventure about a teen princess from another dimension who is sent to live on Earth.
  • "Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel"–the anticipated special that assembles characters from two popular Disney and Marvel franchises, this will be the first crossover animated special for Marvel and Disney properties.
  • "Henry Hugglemonster"–an animated preschool series that follows the adventures of the middle child in a madcap monster family, based on the book series by Niamh Sharkey.
  • "The 7D"– and animated series that presents a comedic look at the Seven Dwarfs before Snow White's arrival.
