Discovery Communications has teamed up with FishBrain to launch the “River Monster+” sport fishing app.

The mobile app, inspired by the Animal Planet series “River Monsters,” is now available for free for both iOS and Android devices. A Pro version with added featured will be released later this year as a subscription service.

“River Monster+,” the first digital product in the River Monsters product line, lets anglers log and share fishing catches and network with fellow fishermen.

“We are confident that the River Monsters app will be a hit with avid anglers and casual fishermen alike,” says JP Stoops, director of licensing, Animal Planet. “Our hope is to encourage catch-and-release fishing practices through this fun and engaging platform, helping ensure sustainable fisheries for future generations.”

Now in its fifth season, “River Monsters” follows extreme angler Jeremy Wade as he investigates freshwater fish tales.

The new app joins a range of other branded product including fishing gear, books and DVDs, available at retailers across the U.S.
