CPLG North America brokers master toy licensing deal for the upcoming animated series.

DHX Brands and Dentsu Entertainment have appointed Jakks Pacific to serve as the worldwide master toy licensee (excluding Asia) for its new animated series “Mega Man.”

CPLG North America brokered the deal.

The multi-year licensing agreement will see Jakks exclusively manufacture, market and distribute a raft of consumer products–including action figures, figurines, play sets, accessories, everyday dress up and role play, Halloween costumes, plush and vehicles.

“I grew up with ‘Mega Man’ and am a big fan, so I’m thrilled for Jakks to team up with DHX Brands and Dentsu on the new animated series,” says Jack McGrath, chief operating officer, Jakks Pacific. “Jakks will bring to life the characters of this terrific franchise through a wide range of toys and costumes for a new generation of kids.”

Based on Capcom’s “Mega Man” video game franchise, the 3D animated series will go into production this summer and will feature new technologies and robots. The series will also introduce Mega Man’s alter-ego, Aki Light–an upbeat schoolboy robot who has nano-core technology that allows him to transform into the mega-powered superhero Mega Man.

“With 30 years of heritage, ‘Mega Man’ is a truly iconic kids’ brand,” says Peter Byrne, executive vice president, DHX Brands. “We’re looking forward to working with Jakks to bring an inspirational range of toys to a whole new audience. It’s an exciting addition to the DHX Brands portfolio.”
