DeAPlaneta Entertainment has appointed Jimena Tormo as its new head of gaming and interactive, marking a strategic move to strengthen its presence in the interactive and immersive content space.
Tormo, originally from Venezuela and now based in Barcelona, specializes in immersive content and creative technology. Her career includes roles at Visyon of Grup Mediapro and freelance work as a creative director and technology consultant for various agencies. She has also taught at institutions, including the European Institute of Design, The Valley Business School and the Barcelona School of Creativity. Most recently, she led the Creators+ Program for Metacampus, an educational hub focused on guiding the technological transition of professionals from different sectors in the new digital era. She also co-founded the Metaversadas podcast, a platform for discussions on emerging technologies.
In her new role, Tormo will develop strategies, creative concepts and business models for DeAPlaneta Entertainment’s interactive content division. She will focus on delivering high-quality family content within the gaming and immersive experiences sector.
“I am ready and very excited about this new professional chapter, which offers me the possibility of expanding my field of action beyond the creative-technological sphere,” says Tormo. “It is a challenge that motivates me deeply, as it is not enough to produce impactful products and narratives that grow our IPs in the world of gaming and immersive experiences; we must ensure that they are highly profitable and that they build communities of passionate and engaged fans.”
“Gaming and interactive applications provide IPs with greater immersive capabilities and expanded storytelling, and also allow us to reach a wider audience,” says Diego Ibáñez Belaustegui, chief brand officer, DeAPlaneta Kids & Family. “Jimena will bring us a substantial improvement in the way our IPs are designed, helping us to create interactive tools for our existing properties.”
The new Gaming and IPs unit is further bolstered by the addition of Marta Freixas as gaming and Web3 specialist and Francisco Asensi Viana, who will serve as an advisor to the department.
