The pop-up activation allowed families to call the Clangers via a pink knitted London phone box, which was created by U.K. yarnstormer Deadly Knitshade (Lauren O’Farrel) and crafter Teasemade (Sami Teasdale).
Once inside the booth, a special pink phone connected participants to the international space exchange before being introduced to the Clangers by the show’s narrator Michael Palin. Once connected, participants were given the opportunity to guess the message that Tiny “whistled” to them.
“Clangers” costume characters were also on hand at the event to keep guests entertained with dances, stickers and activity sheets.
Once the event was over, the message whistled message “be kind to each other” was revealed in a video narrated by Michael Palin on social media.
