Moonbug Entertainment was founded in 2018, and has made an indelible impact in the children’s entertainment space. The global entertainment company creates and distributes children’s entertainment that reads like a Who’s Who of popular kids’ properties including “Blippi,” “Little Baby Bum,” “Gecko’s Garage” and many more.
With offices in London and Los Angeles, Moonbug creates, produces and publishes thousands of minutes of video and audio content. All of its properties have teachable moments to evoke compassion and resilience in their audience.Perhaps the most known property at Moonbug is “CoComelon,” which has become part of the children’s entertainment landscape since its premiere on YouTube in 2020. The animated series has become one of the top-rated kids’ shows on streaming platforms including Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Amazon Prime and Roku. In February, The NPD Group named the “CoComelon” Musical Bedtime JJ 10-inch plush from Jazwares the top-selling toy in the U.S. by category in 2021 – a big feat considering Moonbug only named Jazwares as its master toy partner in 2020.
Moonbug’s properties have a worldwide presence. In March, brand licensing agency, The Point.1888, which represents the brand across EMEA, signed several new licensee deals for “Blippi,” “CoComelon” and “Morphle.”
Simon Phillips, managing director, global consumer products, Moonbug Entertainment, spoke to License Global about how the company is leveraging licensed products to make its white-hot properties part of the family fabric.
