Licensing agency’s Icon Representation unit adds to its client roster.
The Isaac Hayes Estate has appointed Beanstalk to represent the late singer-songwriter and actor for advertising, media and long-term brand associations.
Hayes will be represented under the agency’s Icon Representation division.
“We were introduced to Beanstalk and the amazing work they do two years ago,” says Isaac Hayes III, the singer’s son. “With the addition of their Icon Representation business, they approached us about partnering to expand and develop opportunities for Isaac’s brand and we can dig it!”
Hayes is known for his work as an American soul singer, songwriter, actor, producer and voice artist. As one of the creatives behind the southern soul music label, Stax Records, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame for writing songs for himself, Sam & Dave and Carla Thomas, among many others. During his career, Hayes won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1972, as well as three Grammy Awards.
The singer-songwriter also took on a number of acting roles including the leading role in the 1974 film Truck Turner and voicing the character Chef on the animated series “South Park” for ten seasons.
“Isaac Hayes had a legendary and multi-faceted career as a singer, songwriter, producer, actor, and voice artist,” says Martin Cribbs, vice president, brand management, Icon Representation, Beanstalk. “From the smash hit, ‘Soul Man,’ in the late ‘60s, to his complex and beautiful music for Shaft in the ‘70s, to his voice work as Chef on ‘Soul Park’ in the 2000s, Hayes’ imprint on pop culture, music, and fashion has been deep and enriched us all.”
