BBCW will manage the team’s licensing until the end of 2014 and currently has 20 licensees on board in a variety of categories including nightwear, gifts, publishing and homewares. Product is set to launch at retail in April 2014, as the World Cup begins.
Highlights of the product line for Doctor Who’s golden anniversary include:
Specially produced Doctor Who Trivial Pursuit, Top Trumps and a DVD board game as well as a Monopoly that features all 11 Doctors;
Doctor Who Home, a colorful, contemporary range of homewares and stationery that includes porcelain teapots and mugs, notebooks and laptop cases featuring graphics of daleks, cyberman and the TARDIS;
A clothing range including adult-sized TARDIS robes, character costumes and a replica of the Fourth Doctor's iconic multi-coloured scarf; and
A wide selection of toys including a Doctor Who Mr. Potato Head based on “Mash” Smith.
