BBC Three has commissioned "Class," a new 8x45 "Doctor Who" spin-off geared at young adults.

The series will be written by acclaimed YA author, Patrick Ness (Monster Calls, The Rest of Us Just Live Here) and will be set in contemporary London where incredible dangers are breaking through the walls of time and space.

The series will be produced by BBC Cymru Wales in association with BBC Worldwide and will film in and around Wales beginning in spring 2016. "Class" will air on BBC Three later that same year.

“No one has documented the dark and exhilarating world of the teenager like Patrick Ness, and now we're bringing his brilliant storytelling into 'Doctor Who,'" says Steven Moffat, writer and producer, "Doctor Who," who will executive produce the series. "This is growing up in modern Britain–but with monsters.”
