BBC Worldwide and CBeebies have commissioned a third season of the Bafta award-winning, 2D animated, preschool series “Sarah & Duck” and announced a slew of new licensing deals for the brand.

The new series will comprise 40 x 7 episodes, bringing the total number of “Sarah & Duck” episodes to 120 and guaranteeing the brand’s onscreen presence with new content on both CBeebies U.K. and CBeebies international channels until at least 2018.

BBC Worldwide has also secured a continued licensing and merchandising agreement in the U.K. for “Sarah & Duck” from Karrot Entertainment. The merchandise line that features plush toys from Posh Paws, encourages young children to recreate "Sarah & Duck’s" adventures at home.

Following the early success of the first three picture books, two more books from Puffin along with a Christmas-themed DVD of the pair will be released later this year.

A second CBeebies special magazine from Immediate Media is also planned, as well as a planner from Carousel Calendars. For summer 2015, Legends Wall Art, a new licensee for the brand for bedroom decoration will launch wall art and Dreamtex will have a range of bedding going into retail for this autumn.

“‘Sarah & Duck’ embodies everything that we are passionate about for our CBeebies global audiences: it is stimulating, entertaining and has proven very popular internationally, stretching minds and imaginations of preschoolers all over the world,” says Henrietta Hurford-Jones, director, children’s, BBC Worldwide. “We are thrilled to be offering fans more of what they love with brand new episodes, magazines, toys and licensed products.”
