Australia’s LVLY Partners with Care Bears

For Mental Health Awareness Month, Australia’s flower and gifting brand, LVLY, has partnered with Care Bears to encourage people to send “bearhugs” at a time when disconnection, depression and anxiety are on the rise.

The LVLY x Care Bears collaboration aims to raise awareness among children and adults about the importance of connecting with emotions and opening up about feelings.

“This nostalgic collaboration is for everyone – children, adults, friends and family,” says Hannah Spilva, co-founder, LVLY. “It’s about sending a message to say, ‘I’m here for you, I’m thinking of you, I’m in your corner.’”

Originally launched as a commercial product, the Care Bears’ symbols and stories carry strong themes related to emotional well-being and mental health. The Care Bears’ mission to spread caring and understanding often addresses issues such as loneliness, sadness, fear and self-esteem.

“LVLY has always been about connecting people during times of need, love and support,” says Spilva. “In the midst of the mental health crisis gripping the nation, it’s more important than ever to check in with people, see how they’re doing and let them know they are part of a support network. The beauty of this collaboration is that Care Bears span multiple generations, making them as relevant today as they were when I was a kid. I vividly remember cuddling up to my Tenderheart Bear as a little one and the joy it brought me. When we were approached by Care Bears to collaborate it was a full body ‘yes’ from me because the Care Bears are the perfect vehicle to gently prompt conversations about feelings with someone you love or might be concerned about. The complexities of growing up in today’s world are profound and we need to start conversations about emotional awareness and mental health from a young age. As someone who has suffered from periods of severe anxiety, I make it a priority to openly discuss mental health with not only my kids but my parents, family and friends.”
