Arabian Licensing Company to rep newly re-launched children’s series for licensing.

Biyaya Media has named Arabian Licensing Company as the master licensing representative for its kids' series "Iftah Ya Simsim," based on Sesame Workshop's "Sesame Street" in the UAE, GCC and Middle East.

ALC has also formed a Saudi-Emirati alliance with Headline Communications to handle the licensing for Saudi Arabia.

ALC will develop a full-scale licensing program featuring a wide range of products and retail promotions for the program, which returned to the airwaves in September following a 25-year hiatus. The company will also present the series at the Dubai International Content and Licensing Fair, which will take place this month.

“We are proud to represent 'Iftah Ya Simsim,' which is part of the global 'Sesame Street' family that provides engaging educational content to enrich the lives of children around the world,” says Fayez Weiss Al-Sabbagh, chairman, ALC.

Bidaya Media is a joint venture between Sesame Workshop and Abu Dhabi-based investment and development company Mubadala Development. "Iftah Ya Simsim" is locally produced with content that is developed according to the curriculum prepared by the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States.

“Acquiring this license represents a significant shift," says Feras Adel Al Maddah, chief executive officer, Headline Communication. "While there is certainly a growing appetite for educational content, just as importantly, 'Iftah Ya Simsim' allows us to help promote values and culture of the region.”
