Pickerell, a trained chemical engineer, has applied his knowledge of molecules, sound waves and patent-pending distilling techniques to create a whiskey blend that is shaped by music. Inspired by the church organ at West Point, where Pickerell serves as a professor of chemistry, each black brandy barrel was inundated with low hertz sound waves to enhance the molecular interaction and the finish of the whiskey.

To support the launch, Metallica has released an accompanying playlist online at BlackenedWhiskey.com, Spotify and Apple Music, that can be accessed using a code on the first 5,000 bottles of the products.

Meyer Sound provided the amplifiers.

Branded t-shirts, hoodies, hats and beanies are also available on the Metallica e-commerce site.

Blackened American Whiskey is available now in select U.S. cities and online at ThinkLiquor.com and SpiritedGifts.com.
