Mattel Unveils Branded Tablet Range

Toymaker grows its smart technology lineup with themed children’s tablets.

Nabi, Fuhu’s kids’ tablet brand, has unveiled three new tablets inspired by Mattel’s Barbie, Hot Wheels and American Girl brands.

Mattel acquired Fuhu earlier this year.

Each tablet will come with a full range of digital content and accessories tied to its respective brand.

The Barbie tablet will feature Barbie-themed apps, games and videos, including apps that allow users to explore potential careers with Barbie or create their own Barbie superhero comics. The tablet will also come with a custom pink bumper and Barbie sound effects.

Meanwhile, the Hot Wheels tablet will include “Hot Wheels Labs” videos which teach kids about the science of Hot Wheels cars and tracks such as resistance, friction and gravity. It also features more than 25 apps and games, as well as a custom bumper and racing sound effects.

Finally, the American Girl tablet will include more than 70 apps, videos and games, including apps that allow children to make their own movie or learn how to style hair. It will also feature a berry-colored bumper and American Girl-specific sound effects.

“In launching these tablets we look to give young fans of Barbie, Hot Wheels and American Girl an incredible new way to get inside the worlds of their favorite toys and interact with them in exciting and different ways,” says Jim Mitchell, general manager, Fuhu. “Meanwhile, as always, we are glad to be able to provide parents with the peace of mind they have come to expect from the Nabi brand.”

All three tablets will be available next month.
