Editor's Note

Last week’s Comic-Con expo in San Diego attracted more than 100,000 attendees—and not all of these were your stereotypical comic book aficionados. Beyond its consumer appeal, Comic-Con is also the place where deals are done, and a large portion of that business is in licensing. For instance, at this year’s show announcements were made that actor-director Ed Burns is expanding into the comic book arena, while LucasFilm’s 2008 release of its Indiana Jones film will also be coming out in comic form (see related stories below). For hot properties, comics are a natural extension, and Comic-Con is the place where it all happens.
