Doctor Who Gets Homewares, Coins

As Doctor Who celebrates 50 years, BBC Worldwide has announced plans for a new homewares range and a series of commemorative coins.

The new Doctor Who home collection features a graphic, contemporary design created by BBC Worldwide's in-house creative team in partnership with the design studio Skew & Rude.

Featuring the TARDIS as well as some of Doctor Who's most famous foes, the line includes porcelain homewares such as teapots, mugs and an espresso set, as well as a textile range comprising cushions, an oven glove, apron, tea towels and laptop cases. An additional line of stationery products including note pads, greetings cards and wrapping paper will also debut.

Additionally, BBC Worldwide’s Australasia division has teamed up with the New Zealand Mint for a series of collectible coins.

The New Zealand Mint will release a silver coin featuring engraved picture of the iconic TARDIS and a unique 50th anniversary logo on Feb. 1. The coin comes packaged in a 3D model replica of the TARDIS.

Later in the year the New Zealand Mint will also release collectible coins featuring all 11 Doctors. Additional Doctor Who coin releases are also planned for 2014 and 2015. The commemorative coins will be available for pre-order on the New Zealand Mint website.
