DCD Publishing has brokered a series of deals for music publishers representing the work of artists including John Lennon, Paul McCartney and Cliff Richards.
Following its successful line of musical guitar key rings, Bluw Toys has expanded its partnership with Sony ATV for a line of mugs featuring lyrics from several Lennon and McCartney songs, including “She Loves Me,” “I am the Walrus” and “A Hard Days Night,” with saucers in the design of a record.
Bluw has also signed a deal with EMI Publishing for the rights to “We’re in the Money” from “42nd Street,” to be featured in a line of singing piggy banks. The classic tune plays every time a coin drops into the box.
DCD also negotiated a partnership between EMI and children’s wear manufacturer AJ Carter that saw a line of lyrical babywear at Tesco Direct over the summer. The line featured the song “Summer Holiday” from Cliff Richards. The collaboration will continue with additional product featuring new songs in the coming months.
“We represent most of the world’s largest music publishers for lyric merchandising, which gives the opportunity to exploit countless classics and more recent hits,” says Adrian Sington, chief executive officer, DCD Publishing. “Memorable lyrics can be turned into a broad range of products as demonstrated by these recent deals.”
