Following the global trade disruption of the Ever Given’s blockage of the Suez Canal in March 2021, U.K. news provider Metro has broken news of another event that suspended travel, albeit briefly, through the route on Sept. 09.

While Sky News Arabia reported the vessel was re-floated a few hours later, the impact of the Ever Given blockage in March – which cost global trade billions in revenue and severely affected sectors such as grocery and hospitality – suggests a new danger to the global supply chain.
