In a licensing agreement brokered by global brand extension licensing agency, Beanstalk, The Ohio State University has collaborated with Ballreich Snack Food Company, the Tiffin, Ohio-based snack manufacturer, to launch a line of potato chips as part of the Ohio State Tailgate Series, a new collection of gameday-focused tailgating food products.
The chips will be manufactured at Ballreich’s Tiffin, Ohio facility, allowing Ohio State fans to support the university and a locally owned business that has been making potato chips since 1920. The new line will feature four flavors: buffalo ranch, cheddar slider, jalapeno popper and classic.
Inspired by the university’s official mascot, Brutus Buckeye, the chips will be sold in scarlet and gray striped bags. Additional Ohio State Tailgate Series products are currently in development.
“We are excited about the new collaboration with The Ohio State University and the unique development of four new potato chips snacks that encompass popular tailgating flavors,” says Jamie Twining, vice president, sales, Ballreich Snack Food Company. “We have something for everyone. This is only the beginning – as the relationship between OSU and Ballreich’s grows, so will the product line.”
With the launch of the Tailgate Series, Ohio State is aiming to create a full assortment of officially licensed food products and related accessories to help Buckeyes show their pride and support the university, wherever they choose to tailgate. The Tailgate Series program will also bring The Ohio State University product to more grocery and convenience stores.
The chips will come in 2.75-oz. and 8-oz. bag sizes and are available at Ballreich.com and Ohio-based grocery and convenience stores.
