Chevrolet and Mattel have teamed up to bring the Hot Wheels brand to life with the new Camaro Hot Wheels Edition car, the first full-size Hot Wheels car ever to be offered for sale.
"It's been nearly 20 years since I started designing cars for Hot Wheels and I have yet to drive one home," says Felix Holst, vice president of creative, Mattel Wheels Division. "Personally, I can't wait to open the doors and see the Hot Wheels Camaro sitting in the garage."
Chevrolet unveiled the Camaro Hot Wheels car Nov. 12. The limited edition car is based on the Custom Camaro 1:64-scale toy, one of the original 16 Hot Wheels released in 1968, and will begin arriving at Chevrolet dealerships early next year with pre-ordering now available in Europe.
The Camaro Hot Wheels Edition features a Hot Wheels inspired graphics-accented metallic paint scheme with option ground effects package, fender flame graphics, Hot Wheels grille and decklid logos, black leather-trimmed interior accented with the Hot Wheels logo and a Hot Wheels-style flame decal on each door.
"Millions of us grew up playing with Hot Wheels," says Chris Perry, vice president of marketing, Chevrolet. "Offering a special production model of the Camaro Hot Wheels is an opportunity to bring those memories to life, for kids of all ages."
