Lazada is on board to sell merchandise featuring the anime network’s famous mascots.

ASIA–Sony’s Animax Channel, known for distributing Japanese anime, has tapped e-commerce company Lazada to sell a new product range featuring its animated characters OO-Kun & Friends.

Available in the official branded store-in-store on the Lazada platform, OO-Kun & Friends merchandise will feature a range of accessories, stationery, homewares, plush toys, pillows, luggage tags, drink bottles, magnets, pencil cases and more.

OO-Kun & Friends merchandise is available on Lazada in Singapore with plans for regional expansion in early 2018.

“OO-Kun has become synonymous with Animax in Asia and has rapidly built a huge and loyal fan base. Over the past three years, OO-Kun has been delighting anime lovers at large-scale events in multiple cities across the region and the response is always phenomenal,” says Virginia Lim, senior vice president and head of content, production and marketing, Sony Pictures Television Networks, Asia. “Until now, OO-Kun merchandise was sold exclusively at these events, so we’re pleased to launch our first online store with Lazada to meet the growing demand for OO-Kun & Friends products. This is only the beginning of our phased expansion and fans can expect to see a lot more of OO-Kun & Friends in retail stores in the near future.”

OO-Kun, a mystical shape-shifting raccoon, debuted on Animax in 2014. Since then, the character has gained a cult following and has inspired new characters, who have appeared in more than 100 short form videos as well as festivals and carnivals throughout Asia.
