Sanrio to Highlight Hello Kitty

Following a year of celebrations for the 40th anniversary of Hello Kitty, the momentum will continue for the Sanrio character at Brand Licensing Europe.

Throughout the year the character has been giving hugs to fans around the world in the Share a Hug with Hello Kitty campaign, which may mark its 500,000 hug during the show.

Along with the “chain of thankfulness,” Sanrio has developed a dedicated licensing program for the character in the EMEA that includes a number of limited editions and special products.

Recent and new partnerships include Moleskine for stationery, SEGA Europe for a brand-new collaboration between Hello Kitty and Sonic the Hedgehog for the EMEA market; and a second release in the Warner Bros. Consumer Products EMEA cross-over with DC Comics characters that will see Hello Kitty styled as Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.

And even though Hello Kitty's anniversary year is coming to an end, the celebrations aren't over as two other Sanrio characters will celebrate their

40th anniversary in 2015: Little Twin Stars and My Melody. Announcements about events and special projects for these two milestones will come soon.
