Popeye Magazine, published by Magazine House in Japan under license from King Features, has released a special issue celebrating the magazine’s 40th anniversary.

The special July anniversary issue of Popeye includes a reprint of the full first edition from 1976, as well as stories focused on California as a tribute to the four staff writers who went to Southern California to absorb and translate the West Coast lifestyle for the inaugural issue. King Features’ Popeye character will grace the cover of both editions.
