The Copyrights Group has announced a new partnership between Paddington and seaside resort chain Butlin’s for a new stage show, “Paddington at the Seaside.”
Beginning February 2019, the show will launch at three Butlin’s resorts, Bognor Regis, Minehead and Skegness, where fans will have an opportunity to meet Paddington and take a photo with him.
“It’s a great honor for us to have such a well-traveled and famous bear as Paddington coming to stay with us,” says Mike Godolphin, head of entertainment, Butlin’s. “He’ll definitely get a very warm welcome, and our chefs will make sure we have a good supply of marmalade sandwiches! I’m sure our guests will be thrilled to meet him next year.”
In other Paddington news, The Copyrights Group, which manages the licensing rights for Paddington worldwide and is part of Vivendi, plans to celebrate Paddington’s 60th anniversary with a special digital treasure hunt. The fun, interactive digital treasure hunt will call on friends and families to help Paddington find a list of treasured items via a set of clues that will be revealed online every two days and that will give access to a dedicated microsite where fans can play games and enter for a chance to win prizes.
The treasure hunt will come together via the help of various partners including Studiocanal, Dailymotion, Universal Music Group, Gameloft and Havas Digital Factory.
In the U.K., partners Studiocanal and Gameloft will be joined by HarperCollins Children’s Books. In the U.S., partners Dailymotion, Gameloft and HarperCollins Children’s Books will be joined by Yottoy, which offers a full range of Paddington plush and collectible toys.
The digital treasure hunt, which will last for 10 days, is set to launch on Oct. 18 on Paddington social channels and partner channels.
