Classic character celebrates his 25th anniversary in style.

British comedy icon Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) headed to Buckingham Palace Friday to celebrate his 25th anniversary.

The event, which saw the classic character ride down the Mall on the roof of his iconic lime green car, also marked the release of the Mr. Bean 25th anniversary DVD box set and new animated Mr. Bean episodes airing on Boomerang.

In typical Mr. Bean fashion, the event was not without a few hitches. Not only did he manage to get the date of his birthday wrong by a week, but he also caused havoc to tourists around St James’s Park Lake and closed down the entirety of the Mall on his journey to receive his birthday gifts, delivered to Buckingham Palace itself.

A classic symbol of British comedy worldwide, Mr. Bean has sold 35 million DVDs in the last quarter decade and has 63 million fans of Facebook.

The Mr. Bean anniversary edition box set features 14 discs filled with episodes and exclusives and is available Sept. 7 on Zoom.co.uk. Season two of the new "Mr. Bean" series launched with a weekend marathon Saturday on Boomerang.

The Mr. Bean brand is represented by Tiger Aspect Productions.
