Moomin Mugs Available for One Day Only

Bulls Licensing, the worldwide rights manager for the Moomin brand, brokered the deal.

Under the terms of the agreement, the new Moomin mug will only be available for one day on Moomin.com, Moomin shops in Finland and Sweden and at select Iittala stores.

“The Arabia Moomin mug is one of the world’s most successful licensed homeware products, so we anticipate a huge demand for this beautiful addition to the range,” says Gustav Melin, director, global licensing, Bulls Licensing. “Participating retailers are expecting queues out of the door, and we predict an unprecedentedly busy day for Moomin.com as fans around the globe race to get their hands on this must-have design.”

Arabia has been making Moomin mugs for the Scandinavian market, where half of all Finns ages 18-75 and one in five Swedes has a Moomin mug, according to a survey.

“The mug has become a collector’s item. Last year, a limited-edition mug from the coveted Fazer series sold on Tradera.se for a breath-taking 7,640 euros. The most

expensive Moomin mug ever sold, as far as we are aware,” says Melin. Moomin Day is observed each year on Aug. 9, the birthday of Moomin author Tove Jansson.

A new international animated TV series “Moominvalley” is set to be released in 2019.
