Grocery retailer will build entertainment-themed playgrounds in Slovakia.

Studio 100 International has partnered with European grocery retailer Lidl for “Maya the Bee”-themed playgrounds in Slovakia.

Lidl will build the “Maya” play spaces in Slovakian cities that have at least one of its stores.

Lidl plans to open 10 themed playgrounds this year, and has projected more to be created next year. There’s also a social aspect–the retailer is running a campaign that encourages shoppers to vote for the next “Maya” playground. The new playgrounds will also be advertised by TV and marketing campaigns, spearheaded by Lidl.

In addition, Lidl Slovakia will organize several in-store “Maya” loyalty programs, which will be introduced in the future.

“It’s great to see ‘Maya’ reaching an increasing number of fans across Slovakia, and with the new partnership with Lidl, we are able to inspire fans with new projects,” says Evy Van Nederkassel, manager, licensing and sales, Studio 100. “The response we’ve received has been fantastic and we can’t wait to see Maya playgrounds in action.”
