The educational films will be released on DVD and digital formats beginning in early 2014 and will include updated characters and new subject areas.
The deal extends Lionsgate's distribution rights to include worldwide rights to both physical and digital content for the new productions. LeapFrog has retained the rights to distribute the new content across its own proprietary digital platforms.
"We are thrilled to be growing our DVD entertainment portfolio with Lionsgate as a core strategy to build the LeapFrog brand as the leader in educational entertainment," said John Barbour, chief executive officer, LeapFrog.
Since 2008, LeapFrog and Lionsgate have released 12 animated DVDs featuring LeapFrog characters.
