Sanrio’s character-inspired restaurant in North America will be open for one year.

On the heels of the Hello Kitty Café Truck, Sanrio has opened the first Hello Kitty Café in the U.S.

The Hello Kitty Café pop-up container will be open to the public daily through 2017 at the Irvine Spectrum Center in Irvine, Calif. Meanwhile, the Hello Kitty Café Truck will continue to tour the U.S. this fall.

The cafe will feature Sanrio’s classic character atop an assortment of fresh-made pastries developed specifically for the restaurant, including apple pies, cakes, chocolate opera cakes, mixed berry tarts, sugar cookies, streusel tarts and more. It will also feature beverages including iced teas, lemonades and specialty coffee drinks.

An expanded menu featuring additional Sanrio characters and a specialty daily tea service will debut later this year.

“Since its debut last year, the Hello Kitty Café Truck has delighted fans in every city it has visited,” says Jill Koch, senior vice president, brand management and marketing, Sanrio. “The Hello Kitty Café pop-up container is an evolution  of our café experience, offering a new selection of treats in a modern, open concept space.”
