Popular Dr. Seuss character proves to be a seasonal hit.
In partnership with brand owner Dr. Seuss Enterprises, Rocket is looking to expand the Grinch's licensing program into additional apparel categories as well as seasonal non-clothing sectors such as gifting, novelty decorations, wrapping paper and cards.
These new additions will join recent product launches from Somerbond (adult nightwear and underwear), Park Agencies (adult t-shirts, sweatshirts and knitwear) and Smiffys (adult and kids' dress-up).
“Dr. Seuss Enterprises could not be more excited by the overwhelming success our favorite green curmudgeon is experiencing in the U.K.,” says Susan Brandt, president, licensing and marketing, Dr. Seuss Enterprises “Our hearts have grown three sizes knowing that people in the U.K. love The Grinch just as much as we do in the U.S.”
Rocket
has managed the European licensing business for Dr. Seuss on behalf of Dr Seuss Enterprises since 2011.“With consumers enthusiastically seeking out the Grinch at retail every Christmas, expanding the portfolio is clearly a no-brainer," says Rob Wijeratna, joint managing director, Rocket Licensing. "We see enormous opportunities for this clever, funny and very different Christmas hero across a wide range of appropriate categories and are already in discussion with potential licenses for Christmas 2016.”
