Disney is continuing its celebration of Mickey Mouse’s 90th anniversary with a new partnership with Dole and four months of activities and recipes.
From now through January, Dole will present Mickey Mouse as an everyday hero through 19 recipes that honor his legacy and imagery over the last 90 years, six Mickey how-to recipes as well as select branded healthy menu and party-planning tips.
Mickey will also appear across Dole bananas, pineapples, packaged salads and vegetables across the U.S. and Canada.
“When you have 90 years of the most beloved Disney icon in the world for inspiration, there’s really no limit to what’s possible from a recipe standpoint,” says William Goldfield, director of communications, Dole. “The largest set of original recipes we’ve ever created for a single program–let alone a mouse!–Dole’s culinary tribute to Mickey Mouse takes its cue from his famous history, iconic starring roles and eternally optimistic personality that continue to motivate millions toward a better life.”
Recipes include a 1920s and '30s-inspired Dole Mushroom Rockefeller, Steamboat Willie Green Apple Waldorf, Dole Pineapple Julep and more.
“Dole and Disney have a rich history of working together toward happier, healthier families and encouraging kids of all ages to eat better and be more active,” says Goldfield. “Since our relationship has always centered on the intersection of fun and food, we knew we wanted to celebrate Mickey’s 90th in a big way.”
The partnership marks the beginning of Dole’s “Powering the Hero Within” initiative, which aims to encourage healthy eating with the help of Disney characters.
An additional 13 recipes will be released during the next few weeks and will be available on the Dole Pinterest page and at Dole.com/DisneyMickeyMouse.
