Agency will continue to represent classic comic brand for licensing in the U.K. and Europe.

Éditions Albert René has renewed its partnership with Start Licensing for representation of the Asterix brand for another two years.

The companies have been working together for more than five years, during which time they have developed a number of deals for the Asterix brand in the U.K. and Europe. These include the recent signing of plush company Steiff for a limited edition Dogmatix plush as well as future products featuring other characters from the book series; Comic Art for limited edition screen prints and Plastic Head Distribution for apparel, mugs and cushions.

Start Licensing has also worked closely with Orion Books, the U.K. publisher of the Asterix book series. Last year's release, Asterix & the Lost Scrolls, has already sold 4 million copies.

"We have really enjoyed working with Éditions Albert René on the classic and iconic Asterix property," says Ian Downes, managing director, Start Licensing. "We are delighted that our representation has been renewed. We have some new licensees in the pipeline, and the recent activity around the new album has renewed interest in Asterix. It is a property that has a rich heritage, fantastic artwork and a wide fan base."
