Red will make his first appearance in the annual event to promote Rovio's upcoming movie.

Before hitting the big screen next summer, the "Angry Birds" character Red will migrate to New York City for the 89th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The appearance will mark the character's inaugural flight in the holiday spectacle, which is attended by more than 3.5 million spectators and watched by 50 million on TV.

Rovio Entertainment's Red balloon will stand at approximately 45-feet tall, 30-feet wide and 44-feet long, with 7-feet wide eyebrows set in the character's trademark scowl.

The 89th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will air nationwide on NBC Nov. 26. Columbia Pictures and Rovio Entertainment’s The Angry Birds Movie will be released on May 20, 2016.

“We could think of no better occasion than the legendary Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for Red from The Angry Birds Movie to take his maiden flight," says Randi Spieker, vice president, consumer products, licensing and retail, Rovio Entertainment. "Millions of viewers will have the opportunity to share in our bursting enthusiasm as Red soars across the New York skyline in this iconic American holiday tradition.”
