Ferrari has tapped PortAventura Entertainment to develop the world’s second theme park in Barcelona, Spain, inspired by the automotive brand.

Ferrari opened its first theme park in Abu Dhabi in 2010, called Ferrari World.

The theme park will be called Ferrari Land in Spain and is expected to open in 2016. Ferarri Land will be located in the PortAventura destination resort and will cover 75,000 square meters.

A number of rides are planned including the highest and fastest vertical accelerator in Europe, as well as the first-ever Ferrari-themed hotel. Additional features will include restaurants, shops and car racing simulation areas.

“After the successful experience of the Abu Dhabi Ferrari World we have received numerous requests to launch new Ferrari theme parks,” says Andrea Perrone, managing director, Ferrari Brand. “Ferrari Land will further strengthen the Ferrari brand in the region and will appeal to entire families as well as Formula One supporters.”
