The on-demand sessions for Week Three of Festival of Licensing include “Doing Business in Latin America: Trade Promotion and Export Assistance to U.S. Brands,” an overview of licensing in Latin America, moderated by Sandra Tinajero, commercial specialist/government relations, U.S. Embassy Quito.
In the session, Tinajero shares statistics of the licensing industry in areas in Latin America, tips on doing business, recent trends due to COVID-19. Tinajero also spotlights resources available to U.S. brands provided by embassies worldwide and examples of commercial outreach and licensing in Ecuador.
According to Tinajero, Latin America’s population is 646 million, is relatively young, as 71 percent of the population is under 45 years old. The region is also increasingly tech-savvy, as 72 percent are online and use social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
Tinajero also shared Licensing International’s Annual Global Licensing Industry Survey for the region. Sales of licensed merchandise and services in Latin America for 2019 were $11.9 billion, an increase of almost 5 percent from last year.
“It’s a growing market, with a lot of possibilities,” says Tinajero.
