Byredo, a fragrance house known for its perfumes and fragrant candles, is branching out into the beauty space with the launch of a makeup line. WWD reports that Byredo partnered with makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench for the Byredo makeup collection.
Ben Gorham, founder, Byredo, worked with Ffrench to develop makeup products “that would allow people to play with their identity and decorate their face,” according to Ffrench.
The initial launch includes 16 Color Sticks, meant to be easily blendable and universally flattering and encased in gold and silver packaging. It also includes a palette called “Corporate Colours” with neutral shades like browns and taupes, as well as a palette called “Sciomancer,” inspired by Black music artist Yves Tumor.
“It’s quite hard to find a muse these days because there are just so many people doing the same thing,” Ffrench told WWD. “[Yves is] really expressive. His fashion sense is amazing. His music is amazing. He’s a great performer [and] loves wearing makeup – so I created that palette with somebody like him in mind. We’re choosing unconventional characters as the muses for some of our collections, and it feels a lot more authentic than being just like, ‘here’s another pretty model.’”
The Byredo makeup collection is set to launch Oct. 1.
