Having opened its doors on Oct. 6, Festival of Licensing continues to bring the biggest names in licensing together to educate, inspire, make deals and more. The month-long virtual celebration of the global licensing industry runs from October 6-29, with regional-specific events for Europe (October 6-8), Asia (October 14-15) and the Americas (October 20-22), and a closing week global C-suite event, Licensing Leadership Summit (October 28-29).
Week one kicked off with the opening keynote from The Smiley Company, Re-Affirming Purpose Through Positivity, Creativity and Connection, which included speakers Nicolas Loufrani, chief executive officer, The Smiley Company; Pablo Carballo and Joana Oliveira of Pull & Bear/Inditex; Prof. Dacher Keltner, professor of psychology, University of California, Berkeley; Jonathan Demortier, public relations, events manager, Eastpak; Christina Medici, head, partnerships, Smiley Movement; and Fabíola Guimaraes, chief brand officer, Hering. Other keynotes included a panel with Formula 1 and Team GB, as well as insights from Jane Smith, group director, brand licensing, Banijay Brands. Each week features a tailored program and exhibitor list for each region that is time-zoned specifically to each unique territory. Exhibitors throughout the event include big names like Hasbro, ViacomCBS, NFLPA, Mattel, Crunchyroll, Pokémon, SEGA and more. And there’s tons of content available both live and on-demand from speakers like CAA-GBG, Chupa Chups, Aardman, Team GB, Crunchyroll and so much more on the live stage, sponsored by Crunchyroll.
A not-to-be missed activity is from Hasbro’s Happy Hours programming, which brings after-show evening entertainment via its Tunes & Trivial Pursuit each night of Festival.
Brought to you by the organizers of Licensing Expo, this virtual event has everything licensing executives need to accomplish their business goals. One seamless platform enables pre-arranged and drop-in video meetings with new and existing partners, and the platform is internationally accessible to encourage cross-territory connections without any travel challenges.
“There is a huge appetite for making domestic and international connections, discovering new IP and brands and learning how to navigate the new consumer landscape and the Festival of Licensing will support all of these needs,” says Anna Knight, vice president licensing, Global Licensing Group. “We plan to use the power of the platform to fuel the imagination, delight and inspire in a fitting celebration of this industry and the people within it.”
