The U.K.'s Victoria & Albert museum has inked new deals with two top publishers–Penguin Random House Children's U.K. and Thames & Hudson.

Penguin Random House will create a bespoke children's range that marries imaginative storytelling with imagery from the V&A archive. The line will include baby gifts, crafting titles, activity and story books.

Thames & Hudson will develop a range of adult titles that explore the museum's art and design collections.

Initial offerings from both publishing houses will launch in fall 2016, with the full lines on shelves by spring 2017.

In light of these new partnerships, V&A's in-house publishing division will now focus exclusively on exhibition-related and specialist academic titles.

"The V&A enjoys a global reputation for the high quality of its publications, in both trade and academic markets," says Alex Stitt, director, commercial and digital development, V&A. "For the last six months, we have been reviewing our strategy with a view to developing our publishing

to fit our mission–to make our rich and inspiring collections of art and design as accessible as possible to our different audiences. After a rigorous and extensive process, we are delighted to announce our partnership with such globally recognized and highly regarded publishers. Both companies share our values and standards, and we look forward to creating consistently high-quality titles that draw on V&A's extraordinary collections and knowledge of the designed world."
