Licensing agency teams to grow merchandise lineup for art- and publishing-based brand.

MerryMakers Licensing, Pete the Cat’s licensing agency, has tapped five new licensees to create a range of merchandise based on the literary property.

The brand's new licensees include Jay Franco for bedding and bath products, Kids Preferred for a line of soft and hard goods, Dept. 56 for ornaments, Marcus Fabrics for fabric and DIY kits and Everything Legwear for socks and tights for children and adults.

The new partners will join existing licensees such as University Games, York Wallcoverings and Educational Insights, among others.

Additionally, Pete the Cat is featured in a children’s publishing line from HarperCollins, which has sold more than 15 million copies since 2010, according to MerryMakers. The latest book in the series, Pete the Cat and the Missing Cupcake, will launch this October.

“The latest designs are bright, innovative and fashion-forward,” says Clair Frederick, president, MerryMakers. “The product line, across all licensees, offers a cohesive statement, making it easy to convey what the property stands for: creativity, independence, openness, adventure and grooviness.”
