As Lunar New Year kicks off on Jan. 29, Martell, the French cognac house, introduces two new cognacs – the Martell Cordon Bleu Lunar New Year Limited Edition Cognac and L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition - Assemblage du Serpent – to celebrate the Year of the Snake. 

The Martell Cordon Bleu Lunar New Year Limited Edition bottle was designed by Chinese visual artist Wu Jian’an, recently named a Forbes Top 40 Chinese Contemporary Young Artist, who reimagined vibrant packaging to capture the essence of Lunar New Year festivities and the joyfulness of celebrating with family and friends. Featuring characters who are singing and dancing together as they all become one unique and iconic blend, the artwork combines Martell’s heritage with the allure of the snake, symbolizing transformation, wisdom and creativity.  

The Martell Cordon Bleu Lunar New Year Limited Edition by Wu Jian’an can be purchased via ReserveBar and at select U.S. retailers for a suggested retail price of $200.   

The ultra-premium L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition – Assemblage du Serpent has also been introduced. Each year, in homage to its historic ties with China, Maison Martell releases an exclusive edition of its most exceptional cognac, inspired by that year’s zodiac animal; to celebrate the Year of the Snake, the 2025 edition evokes all the enigmatic power of the serpent.

As with all L’Or de Jean Martell editions, this blend is a culmination of 300 years of expertise and a perfected mastery of aging and maturation. This blend of more than 1,400 eaux-de-vie from Cognac’s four finest terroirs preserves the intensity of the original cognac with subtlety and refinement. Nuances evoke the personality of the snake, which represents courage, wisdom and caring. This blend opens with notes of citrus and soft spices. 

Maison Martell collaborated with Baccarat to create the L’Or de Jean Martell Zodiac Edition – Assemblage du Serpent: a decanter echoing a single drop of cognac. The mouth-blown crystal decanter is crowned by a red crystal stopper in the shape of a snake’s head. The neck of the decanter, covered in 19-carat gold, is engraved with an intricate snakeskin motif and the edition number – one of only 500 – recalling its rarity. 

It comes nestled in a red case decorated both inside and out with an interlaced snakeskin pattern, the decanter rests on a gold-tone pedestal finely engraved with tiny scales. This ensemble is displayed against a golden backdrop adorned with the Martell coat of arms, grapevines and coiling snakes.
