The installation will offer a new perspective on the collection that was dubbed the “exhibition of the century” in 1967. The display will contain more than 150 original treasures from Tutankhamun’s tomb including personal objects such as gold jewelry, sculptures, meteoroidal pieces, a miniature canopic coffin, wooden guardian statue of the king, gilded wooden naos, gilded wooden bed and more.
“We invite people to come and see them before they return to Egypt,” says Dr. Mostafa Waziry, secretary general, Ministry of State for Antiquities, Egypt. “To celebrate the 100th year anniversary of discovering the tomb of the Boy King Tutankhamun, Egypt is sending 150 masterpieces to tour all over the world.”
In addition, the Louvre, which is overseeing the exhibition, is lending one of its monumental items,
“The god Amun protecting Tutankhamun.” The center will also add a “Valley of the Kings” exhibit to its permanent collection.
The exhibition will stop in 10 cities around the world.
