Crayola has launched its “Thank A Teacher Campaign,” an initiative that celebrates and thanks teachers.

The program launch coincides with the brand’s 115th anniversary celebration and history of honoring teachers. That legacy includes Alice Binney, wife of Crayola co-founder Alfred Binney, who gave the writing instruments company its iconic name.

To kick-start the occasion, Crayola employees from across the country recently visited more than 300 schools to deliver personal thank-you’s to educators, installed a 25-foot digital thank you at its launch in New York City and unveiled a social media campaign to get one million teacher thank yous using the hashtag #CrayloaThanks.

In addition, the company has launched a contest on its website that gives teachers and students the chance to win prizes for their families and schools including a $10,000 classroom makeover, a year supply of Crayola products and $1,000 scholarship for a student.

The campaign kicked off May 8, on National Teacher Appreciation Day.
