ZeptoLab, the gaming company behind the mobile app “Cut the Rope,” has launched a new animation series starring the game’s main character Om Nom.

“Om Nom Stories” brings the little green monster to life in 10 web episodes that will run through 2013 on the ZeptoLab YouTube channel and the new “Cut the Rope” video player. Plans for a second season are already in the works with an estimated 40 episodes coming next year.

A new video player for the “Cut the Rope” and “Cut the Rope: Experiments” apps is now available for both iOS and Android platforms that will send fans alerts about new episodes and allow them to share episodes on Facebook, Twitter and via e-mail.

To boost awareness for the series, “Om Nom Stories” was previewed in more than 19,000 movie theaters across the U.S. in National CineMedia’s FirstLook pre-show throughout October.

“Om Nom Stories” chronicles Om Nom’s adventures with a young boy named Evan, beginning with the little monster’s mysterious appearance on Evan’s doorstep in episode one.

“We are constantly amazed by the fans of ‘Cut the Rope’ and just how much they love the character of Om Nom,” says Semyon Voinov, co-founder and creative director, ZeptoLab. “We wanted to bring him to life in new ways and show fans more about who he is and where he comes from.”

In another entertainment expansion, ZeptoLab also recently announced a partnership with Sony Pictures Television to produce a live-action game show based on “Cut the Rope.”
