WBCP Supersizes Its Jewelry Presence
Warner Bros. Consumer Products is partnering with Robert Lee Morris on a new
Superman-inspired jewelry collection. The Superman collection (suggested
retails, $55 to $350) is constructed of sterling silver and 18k gold pieces
emblazed with the S-Shield. This limited-edition collection comprises
necklaces, pendants, bracelets, rings, belts, and key chains for both men and
AG Properties Secures Home Entertainment Partner
AG Properties named Sony Wonder the exclusive home entertainment partner for
its new Holly Hobbie & Friends direct-to-DVD releases. As part of the
multi-year deal, Sony Wonder will market and distribute at least two titles a
year, with the first release, Holly Hobbie & Friends: Christmas Wishes,
planned for October 2006. Two additional titles currently are in final
production for a 2007 release, and four more titles are in development.
American Idol Stages New Software Debut
Sony Media Software signed an agreement with FremantleMedia Licensing
Worldwide, Americas, to develop American Idol Jam Trax and American Idol
Extreme Music Creator software. Jam Trax software (suggested retail, $19.95)
comes with more than 600 music loops and samples, allowing users to record
vocals, change tempo and key, and e-mail songs to others right from within the
software. Extreme Music Creator software ($49.95) is a more powerful
application that lets users produce songs on their home computer. Both include
the bonus Randy Jackson's Producer's Pack and will be on shelves in October.
Future editions of Randy Jackson's Producer's Packs, add-on loops, and music
samples for Extreme Music Creator software are due for holiday 2006.
MTV Networks Acquires Atom Entertainment
MTV Networks, a division of Viacom, Inc., will acquire Atom Entertainment,
Inc., and its portfolio, which includes casual games Shockwave.com and
AddictingGames.com, and short film and video sites AtomFilms.com and
AddictingClips.com. The $200 million deal furthers the company's multiplatform
strategy of building an engaging universe of music, gaming, entertainment,
news, and interactivity for targeted audiences.
Fisher-Price Reels in National Wildlife Federation
Fisher-Price is working with National Wildlife Federation to bring wildlife
photos and educational content to its new Look & Learn line for View-Master.
The first Look & Learn titles to hit shelves this summer include Dinosaurs,
Marine Life, and Rain Forest Creatures with more titles due in 2007. The
View-Master Gift Set includes binoculars, a reel case containing the 3-D image
photo reels, and animal facts provided by the National Wildlife Federation.
iTunes Adds New Programming
A&E Television Networks and Apple are making programming from A&E
Network, The Biography Channel, and The History Channel available for purchase
and download on the iTunes Music Store (http://www.itunes.com).
iTunes offers more than 200 TV shows for $1.99 per episode for viewing on a
computer or iPod.
Rocky Brands Signs Footwear Deal
Michelin Footwear appointed Rocky Brands, Inc., to produce, market, and
distribute a line of footwear in North America under the Michelin brand name.
Son of the Sea to Rep Artist
Son of the Sea, Inc., will represent artist Phil Roberts, best known for his
depictions of a surfer's lifestyle. A master painter, Roberts' expertise is
capturing personalities in portraits. His most recent piece is the painting
titled "Pros at Teauhupoo," which was printed in the current Surfer magazine's
Art Exec Forms New Venture
James Meserve, former CEO/president of Applejack Art Partners of Vermont,
started Next Day Art, a venture focused on artist representation, art
licensing, publishing, and ideation. The company currently is soliciting new
artists for representation.
It's Happy Bunny Gains International Strength
Jim Benton's It's Happy Bunny expands its international presence with new deals
in the United Kingdom and Nordic countries. Caroline Mickler Ltd. will manage
the UK licensing program with an initial focus on apparel, accessories, social
expressions, and stationery targeted at 'tweens and teens. As the program
builds, gifts, toys, bedding, and other categories also will be targeted. Kidz
Entertainment, CopCorp's sub-agent for Nordic countries, signed on HB Textil
A/S for T-shirts, underwear, socks, and nightwear for sales and distribution in
Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland, as well as Egmont Serieforiaget
A/S for downloadable images, ringtones, and games for mobile devices in
Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Egmont also secured the right to produce
stationery in those markets.
Billboard's New Fashion Site
Billboard.com launches a new fashion
site for one-stop shopping of hip-hop and celebrity licensed brand apparel for
'tweens, teens, young adults, and plus-size consumers. eFashion Solutions, LLC,
will support and manage the portal (www.billboardfashion.com).
Brands sold via the portal include Phat Farm by Russell Simmons, Baby Phat by
Kimora Lee Simmons, Applebottoms by Nelly, Catch a Fire by Cedella Marley,
Yank, ProKeds, and ABS by Allen Schwartz.
Execs on the Move
Marlene Cuesta was promoted to vice president of licensing for Jada Toys, Inc.
Anthony Noberini was upped to design director, licensed product, Waverly
Lifestyle Group, a division of F. Schumacher & Co. Salman Khokhar was named
president of global strategy for Jordache Enterprises. Jason Elsky was promoted
to vice president of marketing, and Emily Jones was hired as manager of station
relations at Amity Entertainment.
